With low speeds and high torques SEW-EURODRIVE AC motors are the optimum partners. Our AC gearmotor is the combination of AC motor and reduction gear unit in an especially short design where the motor shaft is already part of the first gear stage. It can be operated both directly on the supply system with 50 Hz (optional 60 Hz) - single or multi-speed - and infinitely speed controlled with the frequency and drive inverters from SEW-EURODRIVE.

SEW AC brake motors are AC motors in sizes 63-225 with integrated DC-operated safety disk brakes.
The brake rectifier is installed in the terminal box or as IS plug connector as standard but is also available in control cabinet design.
In the power range of 1.1 to 45 kW, all standard 4-pole SEW AC motors comply with the lowest EFF2 efficiency requirement.
The SEW AC geared brake motor is a combination of an AC brake motor and a reduction gear unit in a particularly compact design, in which the motor shaft is itself part of the first gear stage.

The new SL2 synchronous linear motors from SEW-EURODRIVE are the perfect solution for use in highly-dynamic and flexible processing machines, handling technology or pick-and-place applications.
The direct generation of linear motion and force means that no mechanical transmission elements such as spindles, ball bearings or toothed belts, which would be subject to wear, are required. An optimum force-density ratio is achieved by using the latest winding technology and a laminated iron core. The SL2 synchronous linear motor with convection cooling is practically maintenance-free, offers maximum reliability and availability, high control quality, speed and accuracy. Another advantage is the compact design of the SL2 synchronous linear motor.
SEW-EURODRIVE offers the matching MOVIDRIVE ® compact MCH servo inverter (in preparation for MOVIDRIVE ® synchronous linear motors, size B) to create a perfect system for individual drive solutions from one source. Another advantage is that the familiar functionality of the MOVIDRIVE ® series is also available for the operation of linear motors.
SL2 synchronous linear motors save time during project planning
The project planning and configuration of system concepts that place high demands on speed and precision or require high travel speeds and repetition accuracy is very time-consuming. Synchronous linear motors are convection cooled and available in the rated power range of 280 ... 6000 N. Peak powers of 12600 N can be achieved. The motors are available in the rated velocity classes 1 m/s, 3 m/s or 6 m/s to achieve a system-specific optimization of the motor system. Special windings are also readily available.
Always the right choice: SL2 synchronous linear motor
If motors are required to cope with increasing speeds and positioning accuracy, conventional motors soon reach their limits. As a result, convection-cooled synchronous linear motors are used more and more frequently in servo applications.
The three SL2 synchronous linear motors from SEW-EURODRIVE offer highly-dynamic and precise positioning down to the μ range with the high quality expected from SEW.

Explosion-proof Motors |

The operation of systems in areas with explosive air-gas or air-dust mixtures requires drive units equipped with special protection features. This requirement makes explosion-proof motors and gear units subject to increased safety features.
The new regulation 94/9/EG (ATEX100a) contains all requirements for units operated in areas with increased danger of explosion and for the first time includes non-electrical devices in the explosion protection section. SEW-EURODRIVE develops and produces explosion-proof motors and gear units (in preparation) according to ATEX100a regulation that offer many additional features:

All drives are equipped with the standard enclosure of IP54. The gray cast terminal box has a threading with metric cable screw fitting closing parts meeting ATEX100a. The gaskets are of improved quality to increase heat resistance; an external protective conductor connection has been installed. Reinforced fan guards and brake sealing rings additionally retained with clamping strips are also standard for SEW.
Vertical drives are equipped with a protective cover and there is a speed or stalling monitoring feature for mechanical variable speed gear units.
SEW-EURODRIVE meets all quality requirements regarding unit safety. Any problems occurring during system operation will be analyzed and considered according to the three unit safety categories.
SEW is offering motors for explosion-proof operating conditions with the following type of explosion protection:
In operating conditions with explosive air-gas-mixtures, the drives are meeting the requirements for type of explosion protection "flameproof enclosure," "increased safety" or "type of protection n." For areas with explosive air-dust mixtures, the standard "Elektrische Betriebsmittel zur Verwendung in Bereichen mit brennbarem Staub" (Electrical devices for the operation in areas with flammable dust) has been met.
